True story: A few years back John told me they use flex pipe for underground pool plumbing so I asked him about the known problems with termites eating it. He then tells me there are no termites on Long Island. I ask him to follow me so that I can show him some that are eating an old log. He's see's them, shrugs shoulders and I bid him adieu.

Alcamo designed and installed my 16x32 gunite pool in 1989 (32 years ago). At the time I believe the coat was very good. They also installed the marble patio tiles. For the first 20 years I maintained the pool myself, which was very easy, except for opening and closing, which Alcamo did. The pool still looks fantastic. I get compliments all the time.

I started using the cleaning service about ten years ago. Kathleen and Rosemary were always very responsive to any concerns we had or if we needed service. I highly recommend Alcamo to anyone interested in having a pool gunite installed or serviced. Joe A.

The people who answer the phones here are the complete epitome of unprofessional. I wanted to get an estimate on some repairs for my pool and not only did I have to wait for 2 weeks, the guy was an absolute no show; no courtesy at all. If you want to wait for a job and have it never be done, all in the while having to deal with rude staff. hire these jokers.

I just called to ask about granite for around my pool and the lady was very nasty, She heard that we have a fabricator which we didn't pay him anything yet.She didn't want to help us because she wanted to do the whole job so we told her OK come and measure and give us an estimate she literally say "no"and hanged up on us It never happened to me before, very bad customer service!

If you are searching for a pool company do not use Alcamo Pools. Before I was born my family used Alcamo. The company stood for old school value, humbleness, and reliability. The owner at the time Phil was a good man, on time, and reliable. Since then, the owner's son John has taken over the operation and it is heading in a direction that is scary.

I should have changed companies sooner. The communication was terrible. However, I was patient, and understand the service industry is not easy. John promised me memorial day weekend to be swimming. Then he ignored calls and emails after he got my deposit. We are not talking about one call or email, we are talking about several methods of communication for weeks without response.

I understand a week or a few days, but several weeks to be blown off is beyond words. The owner John was dismissive when he finally did call, we were told inconsistent start dates, and the story told grew hair and legs. Sadly, my children were expecting a pool this summer, but we had to go with a new company. We were put off by Alcamo. They are not reliable and can't be counted on.

When I told the owner John that they did not even order my materials for a job that was to be done July 4th, I received no response. He proceeded to talk in circles. Faced with thinking I am stuck, deal with the company or not have a pool this summer, I decided to proceed elsewhere. As business owners we are far from perfect. Sometimes things don't work out. But, be humble and respectful and at least not dismissive putting off people for several weeks in which you had their money. Terrible experience. A second generation business owner driving the company into the ground.
