BEWARE, THIEF/LIAR. I deal with contractors all over the state of FL and I've never dealt with a more disgraceful company. If I could give Mike zero stars I would. We have an investment property in Pembroke Pines which is about 3 hours from us. My handyman noticed the pool was losing water so I called Mike at Pool Leaks Plus to do a leak detection and he came out and said it would be $250 for the leak detection.
He then said our skimmer needed to be replaced for $1915, we paid him in full and he only did 80% of the job on 9/6. Our pool began leaking again and he had to do another leak detection on 9/18. he said it was the main drain and would be $1600 to repair, he demanded a 50% deposit which I paid him on 9/19 and he said he would complete the repair the following week of 9/23.
From then on he never returned any of my calls and only sent me every excuse possible from 9/19-10/24. He never finished the first job which he was paid in full and refuses to refund our deposit money. He drained our pool twice, with no intentions of repairing, it is very dangerous to leave a pool empty especially in Summer when there is a risk of it jumping out of the ground.
I told him to refill the pool if he had no intentions of repairing the leak, he said he would go back and fill, but when my handyman got there the pool was empty. After weeks of his lies and excuses, I have had to hire another company to complete the work. It was never the main drain that was the leak, so buyer BEWARE, this guy has no idea what hes doing!

I noticed my pool is missing water and I call mike from pool leaks plus. He quickly told me that we have leak on the skimmer and he charged me $275 por the inspection. Same day my ex sent me another pool leak and he told me and proved me that we don't have any leak on the skimmer. I called Mike and the new guy and they discoid the leak. The new guy proved me in front of Mike that their is not leak on the skimmer. Mike told me that he is going to refund the money and he never did.
I have to pay to the new guy $250 and he fixed the leak, obviously the leak wasn't on the skimmer. I texted Mike thousand times and he never back to me. He is a fraud. Be careful!

Had a pool leak and got 2 cards from my local pool Supply company (Surpreme Chemical at NE 153rd street and West Dixie - who I also recommend - $3.25/jug of liquid chlorine). The first one had an address on nearby Miami Gardens Drive [note: this is a mailbox, and the ACTUAL address was distant Weston], so after several unanswered texts and calls (which should have been a red flag), and I made an appointment, with the $275 fee paid IN ADVANCE (another red flag). Michael came out on July 23rd and used sound equipment ("best $3000 I ever spent") to conclude that I had a very small leak in a skimmer pipe.
He also found a small leak by a vacuum line which he patched with epoxy. Over the next several weeks I made very careful measurements, taking rainfall into account, and determined that I still had a leak. Mike had said that if this were the case, the next step would be a full skimmer repair at a cost of $1550 (email 8/22). Faced with this high cost, I felt I needed a second opinion for the skimmer replacement.
I found the card of the 2nd company I'd been given by Supreme Chemical (Leak Works, which I also reviewed and recommend), and the first thing I was asked if Mike had done a pressure check, to allow him to conclude my problem was even skimmer related. I said "no", so John from Leak Works came out and performed the pressure test, concluded Mike's diagnosis was 100% wrong, and John then put on a wet suit and got IN the pool, where he properly diagnosed a leak in a light fixture.
My leak stopped THAT DAY, and I was finding myself having to EMPTY the pool every few days instead of filling it! On August 24th I recounted the last paragraph to Mike and asked for a $130 refund (half of what I'd paid, which seemed very fair to me given that I had to pay someone else another $300 to fix what I'd already paid Mike to do, and which he failed to accomplish). Mike offered to come out and check the pool, which to me seemed very sensible, but just like my initial appointment, it took several texts and calls to get him to come back.
After texts on September 4, 10 and 13, I finally got Mike to agree to come back on 9/14. He wouldn't give me a time, so at 9:22am I texted, then again at 11:19am (response "coming now"). Then I called at noon ('I'm just getting off on Miami Gardens' [probably to check his P.O.Box there]), and he finally showed up at 12:40, by which time I was starving.
He checked the skimmer line with his microphone and this time completely debunked his earlier diagnosis, saying there was NO leak in the pipe - the pipe he had NOT pressure checked. Mike is very adept at deflecting criticism. Examples: 1. He said you couldn't do a pressure test on the pipe without cutting and capping the other end. I said that if the valves were tight enough, you could. Furthermore, if they were not, you would have a false negative, not a false positive reading of 'pressure ok' - he reluctantly agreed. 2.
He claimed the other company had patched the skimmer. If there was a problem in the skimmer, why hadn't HE patched it then? Mike's own argument made it seem that he was either aware of a problem he could have fixed, and chose not to (wanting to charge me $1550 for the skimmer), or he wasn't aware of the problem and had missed it. Either way, Mike indicts himself. Mike reluctantly offered to give me a partial refund of $125, but said he'd need to 'dig up the receipt'.
I emailed it to him within 30 seconds of him saying that. Then I followed up by email that night to confirm that the other company had not touched the skimmer (as Mike claimed). Then I texted on Sunday to ask when I could expect the refund - no answer. In conclusion, I gave Mike every benefit of the doubt: I endured his unresponsiveness before I even retained him for the job, I naively accepted his diagnoses, I gave him the chance to explain himself, and I offered to accept a partial refund.
Even with a partial refund I would have written this review (catharsis), but having now waited 5 days to get only half of what I'm entitled to, today I called my credit company to dispute the entire charge, and I'm writing this exhaustive review to warn others. [9/20/18 update] Mike writes that I "got a leak detection and a repair at the cost of a leak detection." No: what I got was a pool that still leaked. "Long story short I gave him a partial refund even though it was not justified." No: I got NO refund the day Mike wrote the rebuttal, and I don't want one now, since a dispute is pending.

Hired Mike to use a machine that detects leaks in the pool, he came to the house and said that the water was too low for the pool to be tested for leaks. Told me he would come back the next day, but he thought the leak was in the light area and skimmer. He would replace the light ring, reseal it and replace the skimmer and then run the leak detection machine that he charged me $250 to use.
The next day, he replaced the skimmer, and put epoxy where the light cable comes off (did not replace the ring) tells me its not necessary although he charged me for it. So ask him to finally run the leak detection machine that I paid for, and he says its not necessary either because he "knows what he's doing" and "this ain't his first rodeo".
He then charges me and after I paid, he left, leaving behind all the concrete debris from where he cut to replace thr skimmer. So beware! Find somebody else for your pool needs!

Michael from Pool Leaks Plus talks a good game and sounds impressive, but when he asked for payment in advance it caused some concern that he would not make good on all his promises. As expected, things did not go smoothly. He was told exactly where the pipes and the leak were located, but he insisted that he was the expert and tried to shame me for not knowing what I was talking about.
He then told me it was definitely the skimmer, without even being able to run the pump. After giving me an outrageous estimate to replace the skimmer box, I hired someone else to do the job, but asked them to test it for leaks. After testing, they said there was no signs of any leaks. They removed the skimmer and piping where Mike has said the leak was, but the problem persisted.
I then asked Mike to come test for the leak where I initially indicated, but he again scoffed at me and said it was impossible for the pipes to be where I said there were. So I started digging them up to show him, but he said he did not have time to wait around and promptly left. Even after digging up the pipes and sending him pictures of their location and the leak, right where I said they were, he refused to acknowledge his mistake and called me a lier. I asked for a refund and he accused me of blackmail. I WOULD NOT HIRE HIM AGAIN AND SUGGEST THAT IF YOU DO HIRE HIM, DON'T PAY IN ADVANCE AND WATCH HIM LIKE A HAWK.

I am extremely happy with the service I received from Mike at pools leak plus. It was nice having someone knowledgeable answering the phone on my first try. I got a good feeling on my first call that Mike is a professional at what he does. I set up the appointment to see where that leak was. Mike and his apprentice arrived on time and immediately found the leak.
There was no need to get in the pool as he brought other equipment such as a sound device and the usual dyes. He was thorough as once the leak was found he continued to check other areas of possible leaks. He provided a written quote to replace the leak and skimmer and I felt so confident in his ability that I went ahead and update my salt system which was not working.
I gave a 50% deposit and the balance upon completion. The bulk of the work was done on the appointment date and due to an extreme rainy couple of weeks and me trying to find a replacement coral tile the job was completed a couple of weeks later. The cement needed time to cure without any rain. We kept in touch with each other throughout the process and the pool now looks great. Mike is a no nonsense type guy.
He is smart enough to be a lawyer but chooses to do this type of work because it is his passion. He is not cheap but not unreasonable because he uses the type of material that the job needs. I can tell you from experience; it's better to do the job one time, the right way, than to have to do it twice. My only advice would be if you have to match the tile on your floor try to shop ahead of time so you are not scrambling around at last minute. I am definitely saving Mike's number for future use.

You were at my house for ten minutes due to the rain and you never physically entered the pool or jacuzzi or put any dyes into the pool. You only used the sonic to locate leaks which took ten minutes. The pool could not be turned on at the time because of a broken pump and you knew this before and told me it wouldn't make a difference but charged me the full amount.
I should have question it but since I was not sure what you should have done I trusted you my mistake not yours. You never checked the spa or anything else because the pool did not work. I paid you thinking that you did the proper job because I did not know any better. You are a liar and a scammer. People need to be made aware that you ask for more money later if issues occur.
Usually people who scam deflect and I hope people see threw that before they buy a house with a pool on your word. Also, the whole fly with honey. We had a business transaction you were supposed to supply a complete service I did not know that I had to be extra nice after you want to charge more money so you could do a proper job. Like I said in the beginning a scam. Mike, how could you say I wanted to scam money from the owner she was present at the inspection.
I didn't even own the house at the time. That is just a ridiculous statement. At the end it's not a rant it's a review of your dishonesty and everyone has an opinion. They can decide if they are willing to risk the possibility and have the issue I had and roll the dice on your so called word. If anyone wants to personally contact me to see the invoice that you provided they can and I will also throw in the owner of the house number so she can vouch for what you did.
Because since the pool had no leaks by your report no credits were given at closing. I will even be willing to show those papers. I have nothing to hide just posting my opinion. My word and integrity mean a lot so I think this would be pretty crystal on who is telling the truth. The lady was the owner I didn't own the house you had a conversation with her because she had to replace the motor on the pool because it was broken before we closed.
She explained all of that to you plus her pool guy was there so if you found a leak he could fix it. Since he was the one who replaced the motor before we closed. I didn't own the house we had to make the appointment when she could open to let us in. Your just going to make-up things as you go that's fine. I have the documentation and the owners number to prove your a liar.

Mike said he was coming out on three different occassions. Gave him my home address multiple times. Confirmed that he would come and never made it out. Ive now called him several times and he doesnt pick up or return any of his messages/calls. Sad to see how unreliable and unprofessional. At first I thought the reviews here may have actually been good and so difficult to find good companies in South Florida. But just another business that doesnt take care of potential customers early on. Business must be good enough to ignore new clients.

I recently had my skimmer replaced with Pool Leaks Plus and I am extremely pleased with the response time, professionalism and quality of work done. The leak was identified quickly and resolved immediately after. I strongly recommend this company to anyone who has issues with the pool. Thank you very much.

I was out of the country in late August when I get a phone call from my wife that she thinks our pool has a major leak. I immediately asked her to shut off the pumps and to please find us a pool leak specialist. My wife looked on the internet and read the reviews on several pool leaks specialists. She found a well-reviewed pool leak specialist - Michael of Pool Leaks Plus.
I called him from overseas. Michael answered immediately and made arrangements to come out on the following Saturday morning. He found the leak ( it was pricey to do the leak analysis but then again everyone is charging around $200-$250). He came back during the week and jack-hammered into the area of my concrete deck (ugghhhh.but it was necessary) and found the leak in the plumbing.
By the way, the plumbing installation and PVC pipes were only 1 year and half old. The plumbing was installed by a Miami pool company which is now bankrupted (it went by the name of the "mythological creature" which is rubbed out of lamp! ). Michael then pour a new layer of sand and new concrete into the hole. Unfortunately since it was originally stamped and stained concrete deck, I now have a different colored area from the rest of the pool deck. Oh well, this was NOT Michael's fault, he did the best he could. I would recommend him for all your pool leak problem.

Never again! I don't usually hire personnel over the internet, however this time I was going out of town and needed someone to repair a leak on my pool fast. Michael had good reviews so I hired him. Michael arrived at my home and diagnosed the problem area, he gave me an estimate and told me it would take him 2 hours to fix everything. He also told me he could have the pool repaired the next day.
Although I found the estimate to be a bit pricey for two hours of work, I went ahead because I needed to leave town the next day. Michael worked on the pool leak for 45 minutes and told me it was repaired. I paid him and he left. Three days later my pool had the same issue, so the problem was not fixed in 45 minutes. I called him and he was in Greece, he told me he would be back in two weeks.
I have sent him emails and I have called him several times, he keeps telling he will come back, but he does not show up. The contract has an one year warranty, however he does not abide to his own warranty. In trying to get out of the issue, Michael emailed me and said this was a new problem. I question, how could this be a new problem if the leak was still there only 3 days after his quick repair?

Came out right away and found the problem and was quick to charge me. He temporarily fixed the problem but was supposed to give me an invoice so that I could try and recover some of the money that i spent on my water bill and never gave me the invoice or even returned my emails. He changed the filter system and left the old one sitting in my side yard. Now 2 months later I have to change the filter system he installed. I wasted $1000 with him. The work has to be done over again. DONT USE HIM!

After taking care of our pool for a year, I noted that the water level never went above a certain line. I finally decided to check this out and called Pool Leaks Plus after seeing some good reviews on Google. Michael seems to be a one man show and answered the phone and we set up an appointment for him to come out and take a look. He arrived promptly in a few days and carried out a series of increasingly more complex tests, including: visual inspection, injection of dye around suspicious areas, used an underwater microphone and lastly got in the pool to do the same things around deeper areas.
Despite all of these efforts, he initially found no leaks until I pointed out the possibility of the pool skimmer being involved. This was then determined to be the culprit. As an aside, he also completely cut-through a water overflow pipe looking for leaks! After the leak was detected, he recommended we replace the skimmer and offered to do the job.
We agreed on a price and he assured me the job would be done cleanly since we had kids that played in that area. He also promised to fix the cut overflow pipe. I arrived home after the work had been done to find concrete dust and rocks everywhere around the area of the repair. We also have a pool fence to keep the kids out and I was unable to put the poles in due to the small rocks and concrete dust that had settled in there.
The skimmer repair looked fine, but the overflow pipe was also not addressed. After the job was completed, I have not been able to get in contact with Michael or address any of the issues. In general, I felt the work was reasonable and the price was somewhat high, though the poor customer service and attention to detail would prevent me from using Pool Leaks Plus again.
