The following suggestions assume you are starting with water that has been in your pool from prior seasons. If you have drained your pool and are starting with all fresh water, please see our Chemical Start Up of a Newly Filled Pool instructions. After raising the water to the middle of your skimmer, removing winter plugs, replacing drain plugs and starting equipment, you must allow water to circulate for at least 24 hours before attempting to accurately test and balance it.However, there are a few things to do in the interim.
A "grand opening" next spring is guaranteed if you follow proper chemical and mechanical closing procedures this fall. The winterizing process should really start a few days before the pool is finally closed. Don't rush it. Keep the pool open, circulating and treated for as long as it takes to be absolutely clean, clear and algae-free.
When adding chemicals, calculate the gallons of water in your pool and follow label directions for your pool type and size. Never mix different chemicals and always allow for complete circulation before re-testing. Follow directions on your test kit or bring us a water sample for testing and analysis.

Careful here. We bought a Dolphin from Margaret. Very knowledgeable and helpful pre sale and highly recommended from troublefreepool.com. I received the Dolphin and after a few uses the power supply started to overheat, to the point it was almost melting the top cover. Margaret responded that she would help to resolve and then she just stopped responding.
No further replies to my emails, not answering the store phone, calling back, nothing. It's a shame because she clearly is very busy and is choosing to not address a customer concern, so I will have to deal with the manufacturer directly. I live in Georgia, otherwise I'd bring it the store directly. Net net: if you are out of the area - you may want to buy locally or exercise high caution when buying from this store.

Marina Pool and Spa is not just a place to buy stuff, the staff is extremely knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you, my pool heater failed Saturday night over a Holiday weekend, Margaret responded to my email and had me my pentair control board within hours of them opening up, they truly care and take care of their customers, they have earned a life long customer!

Don't order from them online! I placed an order 7/20 for something that was IN STOCK. It's now 7/28 and after an email a couple days ago and then a voicemail today, they just apparently cancelled and refunded my order. I'm assuming the item was out of stock, but no apology, no communication, no nothing. Wonder if I would have ever received a refund if I hadn't followed up diligently?
If you show something as in stock, and take someone's money, they should receive the item or YOU should take the initiative to update them on the status. They shouldn't have to hunt you down.

Update: I have now sent 4 emails, and left 3 voice mails with NO response from anyone at the company. I recieved my order on 5/25. I was sent the wrong part. Over the past week I have sent 2 emails and left a voice mail trying to contact them to get the right part shipped. I have recieved NO response from anyone, and the phone always goes to voice mail. E-Z Test Pool Supplies is a much better company to oder from.

My husband and I looking for new patio furniture. We are both taller than average, so we look for furniture with deep seats. The manufacturer Winston has seat depths that work well for us, so we wanted to find a local dealer who could help us buy that brand. Marina Pool, Spa and Patio was the right place. Margaret helped us and she was great. She is very familiar with Winston products, has been selling patio furniture for over 20 years and is friendly.
She gave us a tutorial on Winston's approach for customizing product as well as guidance on the products that may work well for us. My husband even commented that he was glad we connected with Margaret.

Highly recommend ordering from them! While initial communication is difficult (not always super responsive to email or voicemail), but be patient. They're definitely a very nice small family business, and Margaret is very helpful with her recommendations. Pricing is MORE than fair, especially when compared to big box retailers.
