PLEASE BEWARE . . . We DO NOT recommend Rick to anyone. He started the job, promised to be done on time and does not follow his own contract. He disappears for several weeks at a time. And he has now disappeared, doesn't answer phone calls, text messages or emails. We now have a huge hole in our backyard which is a liability to our family as we have two 6-year old boys.
He acts like a really nice person, but looks are very deceiving. When it's time for payment, he calls at all times and shows up unannounced. He always has excuses for disappearing. He's used "I was out of the county" and "I lost my phone". We will be seeing him in court and reporting him to the BBB, and City of San Diego.. If you want to hire the WORST, call Rick. Otherwise, save yourself the horrible experience and use a professional, reputable company that does not subcontract all of his work.

I hired Rick Duffet to build a fence and to do some landscape/hardscape work. I paid him up front $4,000 to complete the fence and to begin the landscaping project. The cost of the fence was $3,336. Rick completed the fence but never started the landscaping project. He said on numerous occasions that he would begin the work but he never showed up.
After four weeks of waiting for him to begin the landscaping project, I decided to go with a different contractor. I asked Rick to refund me $664 which is what he owed me from the down payment but he never paid me back. It's been over 6 weeks and I still have not received a refund. Dishonest and unprofessional.
