Updating my initial review. We had a pool get popped up out of the ground during the hurricane, and contracted with Havelock to repair it and reset it. After some initial miscommunications with the sales rep and lengthy delays, we worked directly with the owners who kept us updated, and ensured the pool got completed. The concrete work and surrounding craftsmanship in resetting the pool looks very nice. Sue has been true to her word since she got involved.

Signed contract for a small pool in March of 2019 and made the deposit. No word until I contacted them in June at which point amazingly work would begin mid June. Stayed current to the T with required payments outlined in the contract. Nothing but problems during the process which as of today 10/21/2021 is still not complete. Busted pipes, draining the pool because the crew left the valve open, electrician work that took nearly 2 years to get right, horrible concrete job, and concrete repairs that still are not completed are just a few of the issues. Permits were pulled but when I checked with the city after finding incorrect bare wires 3 inches underground, I was told no one was called to come back out and inspect before concrete was poured or underground pipes and electric could be verified by code before filling in. Last contact with the owner, Sue, was 7/29/21 at which point she was sending a worker to repair the concrete. No one has showed. Nothing but silence since.

They signed a contract agreeing to restore our pool damaged in the flood. They agreed we would be in the pool by Memorial Day. They started but then they would not show back up for weeks. They wouldn't answer phone or return calls. When we went to their place of business and complained they would show back up for a little while. This has been going on for 2 YEARS. When the pool was mostly finished we did it ourselves or it probably still wouldn't be done I would never recommend them for anything

We just opened our pool today. "thank you" all at Havelock Pool & Spa and James City store for making this a great experience again. We look forward to you all because your all very nice people and a pleasure to work with. Hard working people, Michael & Drew do such an excellent job every time from opening our pool to closing it in the fall. Throughout the season we just love working with Cindy (James City location) she is like family to us, helping us with all our needs, she take the time & truly cares. We can't forget Ms Susan (Havelock) who keeps it all going & straight for us. Thank you again.looking forward to another season with you all.

Unfortunately I would not recommend this service at all. This is the text I got from the Vice President when I called him directly when he didn't respond to my texts for over the phone help for over 3 days. "I am swamped. If it isn't fast enough call someone else. I'm over having to drop everything and go all the way there. I'm done." One of the most unprofessional companies I've ever dealt with.

I will never again recommend or do business with Havelock Pool & Spa again. A week ago I scheduled an appt for 8-9am to have our hottub looked at after sitting in flood waters before restarting it. I was disappointed to wait over a week for an appt, but understand they are busy. I was told we were first appt of the day. After waiting, and losing 3 hrs of work/pay and 3 phone calls we get a bit of run around we are rescheduled and have them set to come out at 5pm.

I get another call about the issues a couple hours later and when I voice my disappointment in the customer service of not being called about the change in schedule, I get told that the techs, including the owner change their work orders and choose where and when they go and don't bother calling customers. I said that is poor customer service. I get informed the office staff that does these appts doesn't come in until after the store opns and all the appts start, therefore can't inform customers of changes. Hmm maybe you need to re-evaluate that system set up.

She lets me know that Mallory, who schedules these appts (though not sure her job serves any purpose at all), told me this morning the wrong price for a service call, as it is actually $26 more, but they will honor that quote. I get told they will "no longer offer time frames for appts because of the issues with my appt and the people will just have to wait on us to show up from now on." Again, that is terrible customer service, just make phone calls, I and most people understand stuff happens!

Sue informs me she doesn't like my attitude and offers to give me a phone number for someone else to do business with. I go to get something to write with and she says "Joe won't be coming out to your house because we won't be doing business with you" and hangs up on me. All I ask is call me when you know you aren't coming. Changing service appt times impacts a lot of people and right now those 3 hours of pay are the equivalent of about 8-12 sheets of drywall for my house. I will take my money elsewhere.

The pool is beautiful. The communication was horrible. Throughout the process of installing a cement lap pool and coating the deck, which has taken months due to rainy weather, we have never once received a phone call or text to let us know when we could expect progress. Nothing happens until we phone, then we're told someone will call back, and that's the end of that.

I spoke to the owner, Sue, this morning, who was clearly quite put out with me for being dissatisfied. Sue kept telling me that this is what happens when husbands get involved, and said that although she is the owner, she doesn't know anything about progress on projects other than deck coating because she uses contractors. Hunh? She has offered now to be our primary contact and I would suggest that any future customers insist on having that kind of access if you want to know the status of your project.
