When you start a pool project you have certain expectations. When a Company meets and exceeds those expectations its an awesome feeling. I am even more impressed with Hilltop after they have finished the project. As a first time Pool owner the more I learn the more Im learning they use top of the line components that I would have never thought to ask for.
Like a variable speed pump with thermo mode to the quality of the liner and salt generator to the concrete backed liner instead of steel backed. I even had a conversation with the Owner of the Company and found him super nice! Hilltop is a great company and if my Momma was building a pool I would not hesitate to recommend Hilltop.

I had talked with an other pool company and it seemed all they wanted to do was get me in to their showroom and do the used car salesman tap dance. Switched to Hilltop and glad I did. The entire project went just as they had promised. Every crew that came to my house was prompt, clean and very professional. Many of them had worked for Hilltop for decades.
The few times I had called Shane with a question he called back within minutes. There were no hidden or surprise costs. The final dollar amount was just as promised. Oh, and the pool looks great. Would I recommend Hilltop to a friend? Absolutely. Mike

As someone who has worked with Hilltop for over a decade, I can say that they provide top quality work, customer service, and professionalism. They continually strive to build the best pool for the customer. Their technicians know their job and work to get it done quickly and done the right way. I have recommended them to many homeowners looking for a new pool and will continue to do so.

I would highly recommend Hilltop Pools! When considering pool companies, I met with several companies, but Hilltop was the most professional, most prepared to discuss entire process, and willing to discuss options to fit my budget! They made the entire process easy and I would definitely work with them again for future projects. Definitely a great team of people!

Awesome folks. We received three quotes for a in ground pool. After reviewing everything we could about each company, we chose Hilltop. Onsite discussion and a full blown quote with every detail. Pool was built within quoted time frame and the price was exactly what it was quoted. Everything went smooth as could be with zero issues or setbacks. Overall, my family is satisfied with the process and final product. Shane pretty much handled the whole job and was very easy to deal with. He explained everything in the world to us and answered every question with a realistic answer, not a "sales" answer!

$102,400 list price for standard sized pool/spa with plain concrete decking. Originally quoted range of $65K to $80K based on lot and based on a list of our specifications that we are looking for. We have a flat and accessible lot to easily accommodate a pool. When salesperson was confronted, indicated pool/spa combos are $80k+. Unprofessional, poor value, and waste of time.

Our experience with Hilltop Pools: We received quotes from several pool companies. We weighed the pros and cons of each and discussed which ones we could afford. We finally decided and signed a contract with a pool builder. We quickly realized this was a mistake. This company (which shall remain nameless) called us 3 days after the contract was signed and said, "We made a mistake and realized we can't build the pool you want for the price on the contract." "We need to redo the contract and raise the price $15,000.00!" We were really frustrated!
We terminated the contract with them and moved on. I was talking to a friend, I told him about the horrible experience we had with the previous pool company. I told him we were back to square one, looking for a reputable, quality pool company. He suggested Hilltop Pools. We gave them a call and couple days later we were sitting in Matt's office designing our dream pool. Matt addressed our concerns and frustrations from the previous company.
He explained that the price on a Hilltop quote is the price you pay. There are no hidden fees, no change orders later on. Their contracts are pretty straight forward, no surprises. Immediately we could tell we were dealing with an honest, reputable, quality, pool builder! Here are a few things from our experience: Permitting process: This process took longer than we thought it would (to no fault of Hilltop) We live in Henry County.
They required a survey/site plan with topographical lines. (Our current survey was not sufficient) This was both expensive and slow. The pre-dig-permitting-process took about 2 months. We jumped through several hoops from the county before construction could begin. Hilltop helped with this and did everything correctly on their end. Permitting a job through Henry County just took a while.
Construction phase: Excavation took about a day. The dig itself went much faster than we thought. Shortly after that, cement walls were formed and poured, plumbing was installed, and then electrical rough-in was done. A couple days later the bonding grid was installed. This entire process took about a month. Construction was largely weather driven.
Each day of heavy rain delayed construction by about three days.(the excavated pool area takes a while to dry out) Not much you can do about Mother Nature. Cement decking install was next. (again very weather driven) We actually got rained out for about a week. It took almost another week for the ground to harden so they could pour cement on it. We wanted about 2000 ft of cement decking around the pool. Hilltop does their own concrete work.
They do a phenomenal job at it. We were very pleased at the finished product. The vinyl liner install was next. The liner took one day to install. The liner install was followed by the electrician finishing the electrical install. This also took one day to install. Finishing up: Lastly, the cement was painted and sealed. Shortly after that, they installed the slide and diving board and walked us through how to operate the pool.
Final impressions: We are pleased with the finished product. Workmanship and attention to detail was important to us. Hilltop didn't disappoint. In fact, they exceeded our expectations in every way. The length of time from contract to completion was largely driven by weather, required county inspections, and the permitting process. Hilltop was diligent in completing their work in a timely manner and delivered a great product. Shane was our construction manager.
He fielded our countless phone calls and texts. We had several questions along the way, he was patient and addressed any concerns we had. He worked around the clock to ensure things were done properly and had a great attention to detail. Great guy! Matt (the company owner) stopped by while they were pouring the cement decking. All around great guy and very knowledgeable resource. He's a second generation pool builder and really knows his stuff. Glad we chose Hilltop and highly recommend!

By far the worse experience we have ever had. I looked up this company and saw no negative reviews, so I called. The sales guy came out sold us on how professional they are as well as saying how they are a Christian company, that should have been my sign. We signed our contract in March. Nine weeks go by with the same excuse that its a permit problem.
I then went to the permit dept only to find out that never applied for one. The next day I had one, wow. I then sent an email to the sales people only to be told that its really not his problem that I have concerns. Again we are a Christion company? I even sent a let to Matt, their owner. Again we are here to help and make this a good experience. Two days later, hole was done, cement sprayed in and then nothing for weeks.
As of today Aug 1 they have about four hrs left to finish my pool, but have missed showing up now for another for weeks. Please don't take this as a joke. They will lie about everything they tell you and they will NOT follow up. The other I learned was they have NO contractors that are employees! And every contractor I spoke to said they put Hill Top last because of the way they are treated. So beware.

We hired Hilltop Pools back in the summer of 2016 after interviewing lots of other pool companies. What drew us to Hilltop was their approach to helping us find the right design that fit within our budget. That is no small task since we didn't know what was possible. Matt was incredibly patient with us educating us every step of the way. They were worth every extra penny we spent!
Not only did they build us an incredibly beautiful pool with an awesome slide for my kids, but they did it on time, after running into some complicated unforeseen problems with our soil. Their team was proactive in communicating every aspect of the project and what we should anticipate. Over a year later we noticed an issue with the flooring and Hilltop didn't hesitate to send their subcontractor out to address it.
They ran point every step of the way. What happened next is what led me to post this. Their subcontractor drastically dropped the ball. Did Hilltop try to take the cheaper way out by forcing us to wait while their subcontractor (who they had already paid) made it right? No. They made the tougher decision to eat that cost and hire a separate contractor.
They already paid for it the first time and by going with another contractor, that meant they had to eat the entire cost to redo it. Running a business is hard when you are reliant on your subcontractors to deliver at the same level you do. When choosing a big endeavor like putting a pool in, it is so important to choose the right company. Hilltop Pools is top notch and we highly recommend them.

I just wanted to let you know how fabulous Alex and his crew were yesterday when they came out to repair a portion of the skimmer line. The crew showed up at 7:58am and started working promptly at 8:00am. You could tell they all knew what they had to accomplish. They worked diligently and with excellent workflow. They were all very sweet, polite and thoughtful. Alex cut out the smallest possible area to repair the skimmer line.
To cut out the old line, which was probably 4 feet below ground, he hung one of the ribs of the support for the pool, and basically worked upside-down to cut out the old part and replace it with a new piece. I was amazed at this ability to work that way. I'm sure that anyone else would have had to cut out an area twice the size. The leak in the skimmer line was right where the ladder goes.
He did not disturb the anchorings for the ladder. I thought that I would have to have those replaced, but thanks to Alex's superb work, I do not have to do that. They were very neat and careful that the pool deck was not marred in any way by their work. And when they left, everything was clean and neat as a pin. They worked continuously until it was dark and everything was finished.
I have always had superb work done by Hilltop Pools, and today was no exception. Thank you for you efforts to be a quality, caring company. In my book, you have succeeded. Regards, Carol Carver

I have no idea why this company would describe my attempts to receive a refund of my money as bullying when absolutely no work was done. There wasn't even a permit pulled so I'm unclear on how they earned it. And nothing in my review has been disputed. It is exactly what happened. That is the purpose of these forums to describe your experience so that people researching a company can get an idea of how they conduct their business.
My experience was sad, to say the least. And legal correspondence is generally how these things are resolved. My pool has already been installed by Pure Pools in Lawrenceville, GA. The two experiences were like night and day. The gentleman who runs Hilltop Pools is arrogant and dishonest and will eventually run that business into the ground.

I wanted to thank the folks at hilltop pools for their support and recent service that they provided to us. We had Hilltop build our pool about four years ago and have enjoyed it thoroughly. We recently had an issue with the pump and motor and they came out to resolve the problem; however, the system was too loud resulting in me asking them to come back and resolve the issue.
They did so promptly and replaced the entire unit with an upgraded system that works beautifully. I was amazed when I asked what the additional cost was and was told that there was none. So many people do not stand behind there work today but I can honestly say that these guys do. Thanks again for all of your help. Greg Lineham Powder Springs

Very surprised to see the reviews for this company and wonder if they are legit - as I have had a much different experience with our pool. Introduction to Pools: My family was new to the pool world coming from Chicago and building a new home in Johns Creek with a pool. Our builder introduced us to multiple pool contractors to help create a custom pool and structure that fit with our home design. Hilltop proved to be the most accommodative to our specs with the best overall value proposition - that does not mean the cheapest, but great value. An important selling point on Hilltop was that they are family owned and operated complimented with a cadre of long term employees.
After multiple changes on our end, our project was completed on time and included various family members keeping track of making sure things were well attended throughout the process. Follow Up: Unfortunately, approximately 1 year after our pool was installed, we had a liner issue stemming from our pool service provider not properly balancing the chemicals.
After discovering the problem, we contacted Hilltop to help us resolve. While it was not their issue, Hilltop actively coordinated/guided us through a rather bumpy complete relining of our pool as well as provided oversight of the aftercare. Again, as with the original pool construction, family members (including the owner - Brian) took interest in resolving our problem to ensure that our experience with Hilltop was a good one.
In Summary: We would recommend Hilltop to those looking for a high quality, customer service orientated pool builder. I'd recommend calling Brian (the owner) for a personal conversation about your project and associated expectations before dismissing them due to these reviews.

They refinished out pool, fixed leaking plumbing and converted our pool to a salt water system. Now that it is finally finished, it does look great. They had higher prices than other places had quoted us but Angie's list had great reviews so we went with them. They are great until they get your first down payment. It took them 4 months longer than originally planned.
Some of that was due to weather but MUCH was just waiting for them for whatever reason? Their quotes and invoices are very unclear, they have incredibly poor communication (you have to keep contacting them about when they are showing up, they randomly show up at unscheduled times, you have to inquire about what is happening next or about how issues may be solved, you have to repeatedly email them questions and still get no answer, etc).
The workers left debris everywhere and I even found our old plaster thrown behind the fence. I emailed about this with photos after we had paid our last payment and they never even responded. They don't really offer many options for equipment so expect to pay for the most expensive stuff even if it is not necessary for the size of your pool. Some of the guys who work for the company are really nice and helpful though but they are not the ones working at the site the whole time and not who you deal with over the phone and in emails.
To top off our feelings and really justify feeling slighted, one of their contractors (who did a great job) told us that we were being way overcharged for that particular job and that hilltop wanted to forego necessary work that he thought was essential so that they could pocket money that was already in that budget. Despite that, he did it anyway without their consent because he just didn't feel ok about leaving it.
This makes me VERY nervous about the overall work done. So yes, our pool looks great now and is currently working great but I am worried about the quality. I would never recommend this company. I've never left a bad review for anyone before but felt it necessary after I didn't even get a response to my last email that included an actually kind positive sandwich of thanks with pointing out the debris intentionally left. I was more than patient and understanding through the whole process. Too much so. Once they got the money, they were definitely done. Do not use them.

We have never heard from the owner Mr. Miller-do not use them, there are much better companies out there to use-BEWARE! our pool still leaks and the spa is not right! took our money and still not right! Dont!
